Women are meant to flow; inhabiting the energy of creation, life, and love. Naturally, we exist in alignment with ourselves, our creativity, and we do so unapologetically. Guided by our divine intuition, feminine energy is a state of feeling free.
It is also a state of feeling powerful; communicating your needs, setting strong boundaries, and taking control. Being a woman is balance. It’s knowing when to be free, and when to be powerful; being strong and assertive while also being kind and compassionate.
I love being a woman, but that doesn’t takeaway from the fact that being a woman is also hard. Between sexism, economic inequality, the patriarchy… most days it feels like the world is against us.
In the midst of fighting to be seen, appreciated, and heard, many women trade in the softness of femininity for the security of masculinity; mistaking softness for weakness.
Feeling small in a world dominated by men rooted in structure, logic, and leadership is strange given how deeply rooted we are in all of it. Society has forced us to be everything and then some.
Strength is linked with masculine energy as softness is linked to feminine energy. But given the many adversities women face, wouldn’t you define femininity to be strength, too?
We have to be resilient; we have to powerful, we have to be louder. And we do so as a community. What do I love most about being a woman? Other women. When the world doesn’t hear us, we hear each other. And we make the conscious decision to fight for each other, every day.
Our energy is rooted in connection. Not just to others, but to ourselves. Losing touch with your femininity pushes you out of alignment, but know that it is never lost.
It’s heightened in the moments we have alone– where our energy is no one else’s but our own. It lies in the space we make for our thoughts to race freely; unaffected by outside sources.
It’s in the way we move our bodies. Movement is in everything: a morning stretch, a 5-minute yoga routine, a Pilates class, the gym, a short walk around the block…
Moving is at the heart of the way we think and feel.
In physical movement, our emotions are given permission to flow freely through our bodies alleviating any negative blockages we may have, replacing them with endorphins responsible for feeling happy and calm.
It’s expressed in creating. Having a hobby that’s just for you- not the media or the money, is important. Feminine energy is built from expression, it thrives in creativity.
Create a safe space that reflects the things you love. Write, read, draw, knit, sew- find an outlet that not only taps into your creative energy, but brings you closer to you.
Give back to yourself. Spend your money intentionally. Go outside. Share your knowledge through your words. Empower others. Laugh. Smile.
Women are extraordinary. The energy we naturally exude is what makes us so damn beautiful and magnetic. Through adversity, we still manage to succeed; radiating love and light while showing up every day not only rooted in our strength, but our softness.
Your femininity is your security. Hold onto it.
