how to: make your mind a great, safe place to be | the importance of a healthy mindset

Your mindset sets the foundation for everything. The one thing that follows you everywhere, every second of the day- are your thoughts. Your thoughts influence your feelings and behaviors.

Over-thinking, dysfunctional thinking, irrational thinking, and limiting beliefs… they can all make your mind a terrible place to be. They can consume you in a way that feels defeating and impossible.

While you can’t escape your mind… you can figure out how to make it work with you- versus against you.

You can choose to think better thoughts.

I can choose my own thoughts?

ABSOLUTELY.

Everything happens on a mental level before it manifests on the physical level- which is why I cannot stress enough how necessary it is for you to get your mind right.

We are born with a default set of thinking later developed by what we see, hear, and experience. By breaking away from that default, you take control of your thoughts.

If you take anything from me, take this: Your emotions, your thoughts, your feelings- your life is YOU. You are the leader.

Your mind will believe anything you tell it. Like a plant, if you water it, it grows. Feed your mind positive, constructive thoughts, love, and kindness.

What you feed yourself today builds who you become tomorrow. Your mind adapts to what you consume.

What consumes your mind, controls your life.

Just like flowers in a garden, some will wilt and perish- some have annoying weeds that need to be pulled for others to flourish.

The weed in this case would be the harmful thoughts and beliefs that prevent us from welcoming new, empowering ways of thinking.

Have you heard of REBT?

It’s rational emotive behavior therapy. It’s the process in which we use to change thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors to be rational.

It’s based on the premise that our thoughts create our emotions and influence our behaviors. With REBT, we are able to understand the root of our emotions and use them to our advantage.

So, yes. You can change your thoughts. But before you can do that, you have to dig deeper within yourself to identify your personal limiting beliefs, your triggers, your emotional disturbances, your current mindset, and so much more.
