The most powerful tool we all inhabit is our mind.
Our mindset sets the foundation for everything we can be and will be. If you’re in a tricky place mentally, it may be time to assess your mindset. Like, how do you think? And why do you think that way? Many people struggle with mindset because there’s no one set way to develop a strong, healthy, thinking pattern. Our thought process is a result of what we’ve been through, so what works for one person may not for the next.
To figure out what works for you and what doesn’t, you must constantly analyze yourself. What are your triggers, limiting beliefs, toxic habits? When did they develop, why did they develop? You can’t find the solution until you identify the problem.
Here are some general mindset tips to keep you on the right track:

001: Your words are magic.
Before you speak, be mindful of what you’re putting out into the universe. Words hold power and have extreme impact. That harmless, “I hate my life” or “everything sucks” mirrors into your reality because that’s what you believe. When you believe something, you’re subconsciously manifesting that into your life.
002: Nothing is personal.
What people do or say is a reflection of who they are and what they’ve been through. Get into the habit of not taking things personally because most times, it has nothing to do with you. When people experience things that trigger parts of themselves that haven’t healed, they can project that pain onto you. It is not your responsibility to find out why or mediate situations that stem from someone else’s hurt.
003: Stop over-explaining yourself.
People only understand you to a certain extent- from their level of perception. The idea of common sense isn’t so common to those who’ve never experienced the situation. Let go of the need to be understood. If it makes sense to you, that’s all that matters. You cannot force someone to take a step in your shoes, you cannot force someone to see you.
004: Listen to your intuition/gut.
Sometimes you just know. That internal feeling that kicks in almost immediately after being presented with a situation is trying to steer you in the right direction. Always listen to it.
005: Re-frame forgiveness.
Forgiveness isn’t about accepting a shitty situation or allowing those who have wronged you back into your life. You can forgive someone and never speak to them again. Forgiveness is a form of personal release. When we hold onto certain situations rooted in anger, we’re holding on to things that no longer serve us. To forgive, is to release that anger and move forward. It’s to let go of the situation, learn from it, heal from it, and then grow from it.
006: Understanding the AMYGDALA and prefrontal cortex.
Do you know the scientific reason that we aren’t supposed to make decisions when we’re in an intense emotional zone? Our prefrontal cortex is responsible for all rational thinking. It’s what stops us from making bad impulsive decisions. However, when we’re in a highly emotional state, the prefrontal cortex shuts off and the AMYGDALA floods in negative chemicals. Basically, our ability to think rationally is impaired because those negative chemicals are overriding the part of our brain that controls rational thought. In this situation, it’s best to wait until your emotions are under control, and the prefrontal cortex can allow you to think logically.
There are several other factors that come into play when developing a healthy mindset. Not only do you need to know how the general mind works, but how yours works.
